In 1975 I came to the conclusion that the FUTURE of HEALTH in the United States is in the hands of the public. We cannot depend upon government, the media or the medical system, as they have virtually no interest in health and, indeed, are controlled by the PharmacoMafia. This was the reason I helped found the American Holistic Medical Association in May, 1978. Now, just before that 30th anniversary, the benefits of Holistic approaches can be seen by everyone!
When I saw What the Bleep Do We Know?, I was impressed that the quantum concepts of consciousness were at last being shown, but I thought it was unfortunate that nothing practical was demonstrated. I began thinking of a film to demonstrate the phenomenal success of holistic approaches FOR TREATMENT AS WELL AS PREVENTION OF illness. In my own clinic, The Shealy-Sorin Wellness Center, we treated over 30,000 individuals who had totally failed conventional medicine. Our success rate of 85% has been unequaled at any other treatment facility. My focus for the past 6 years has been on training true Holistic Health Practitioners to bring the message and tools to the public.
Last July, I was fortunate to team up with Paul Katona, a technical film professor at Missouri State University, and his company Terrace Productions. The journey towards MEDICAL RENAISSANCE?THE SECRET CODE had begun. We filmed our comprehensive, holistic treatment of three new to us patients, all of whom had failed conventional medicine. We also brought in former patients successfully treated for depression, excess weight, migraine, adult ADHD, and insomnia. Equally importantly, we were able to have join us some of the outstanding leaders of the holistic health movement?Caroline Myss, Ph.D., Belleruth Naprasek, Ph.D., Gladys McGarey, M.D., Carl Hammerschlag, M.D., Roger Cady, M.D., Thornton Streeter, D.Sc., John Sewell, D.D., Lucia Thornton, R.N., Ms.N., Claude Swanson, Ph.D., and Mark Galloway.
The result is MEDICAL RENAISSANCE-THE SECRET CODE. I have seen the movie many times. Each time I experience awe, tears of joy and empathy and a sense that we have indeed created a wonderful demonstration of the practical expression of consciousness and of healing. The three new patients, Judy, Kevin and Rae, have inspired all of us with their heroic journeys
In 1978 I was instrumental in the founding of the American Holistic Medical Association, the physician organization dedicated to comprehensive health for the whole person, emphasizing the integration of body, mind and spirit. In 1980, I was happy to encourage Charlotte McGuire to found the American Holistic Nurses Association. Sadly, just before the 28th annual meeting of AHNA, Charlotte has passed away. This week I will be presenting at that meeting of 500 holistic nurses. Since 1980 we have seen the development of holistic associations of dentists, veterinarians and even attorneys. The AMA was antagonistic from the beginning and a ?former? neurosurgical friend, wrote an editorial complaining that the holistic leaders were too charismatic and spoke too well!? He even wrote that ?We are too busy taking care of disease to try to prevent it!?? Nevertheless, hundreds of papers, books and conferences have continued the process of educating the public in the principles of holistic health.
Incidentally The Secret Code was inspired by Ambrose Worrall?s marvelous booklet, Essay on Prayer, which Olga Worrall gave me in 1972. It is the key to health and happiness. I hope the documentary will be as inspirational for everyone as it has been for me!?? We are encouraging the showing at Art Theaters, Unity Churches, and at ?house parties?. DVD?s are available.?
