Meanwhile, I had just sued BC-BS in federal court for their fraudulent withholding of payments due my clinic. I received 37 judgments against them. The federal judge said 37 times “I find Dr. Shealy credible. I do not find HCFA and Blue Cross-Blue Shield credible.” Notice he also included HCFA, the Medicare administration, your government at its best, which is worst!!
Incidentally, within a couple of years of my suit, the President of Blue-Cross-Blue Shield of Missouri was sent to prison for fraud. Shortly thereafter this “non-profit” corporation tried to go public taking with it $3 billion in accumulated profits!! They reluctantly put it into another non-profit foundation supposedly dedicated to health for Missourians.
Incidentally, the third party is the insurance mafia, the legal system, the government, the PharmacoMafia, and hospitals acting in collusion to control life itself, especially in relation to health and medicine. The American Medical Association has been equally culpable in fighting all alternatives to drugs and surgery.
From its beginning in the 20’s Blue Cross and in the 30’s Blue Shield have been as evil as the original Robber Baron, John D. Rockefeller, and his clones who run Goldman Sachs, AIG, Bank of America, etc. And, of course, most of the insurance companies have followed the same deceptive paths. Over 25 years ago an article in the New England Journal of Medicine was titled “Delay, Delay, Delay, Deny” focusing on the increasing delays and final denials of payments for medical services.
On November 10, 2010, a headline on page one of USA TODAY said “Taking on Blue Cross.” In Michigan, in super-duper anti-trust behavior, BC-BS was in cahoots with hospitals to charge less to hospitals and do everything in their power to restrain competition! The truly shoddy, manipulative details need to be read to grasp the breadth of the criminality. Unfortunately, the article titled “Case again Blue Cross shows difficulty of cutting health costs” by Alison Young is no longer available online.
The problem is that these companies have unlimited power and no ethics.
The ONLY possible solution to the medical/disease insurance fiasco is a single, truly NON-PROFIT corporation, with public trustees who CHANGE within a maximum of two years. Three conventional M.D.’s, 3 conventional R.N’s and 3 holistic M.D.’s and 3 holistic R.N’s or Nurse Practitioners should be charged with setting the standards. The government is at least as bureaucratically bloated and inept as the current for-profit (because all the so-called non-profits are equally BAD and make a profit) medical/disease insurance companies. Until this happens the Evil Empire will continue to screw everyone.
Government dictated medicine is worse than the quagmire we have now, with the unbridled abuses of the ill “health insurance” companies, which do a terrible job even at disease management.
