HOW GOOD IS MEDICINE?
C. Norman Shealy, M.D, PhD.
In 2005 a Greek professor published a remarkable article
stating that 95% of published articles are misleading! Recently Dr Christopher Labos wrote:
It Ain’t Necessarily So: Why Much of the Medical Literature Is Wrong
And the scientist who developed the PSA test recently stated that 80% of positive tests ae FALSE POSITIVES!!! And, of course, the July, 2000, JAMA, stated that the third leading cause of death is the Medical System!
Finally, there is Dr. Thomas McKeown’s THE ROLE OF MEDICINE which led Dr. Franz Inglefinger, editor of The New England of Medicine to write an editorial concluding that with modern Medicine, “We wind up barely on the positive side of zero.”
There is no question in my mind that there are some good aspects of modern Medicine, mostly in acute injuries and illnesses, as well as some rehabilitative approaches, such as hip replacements. I personally believe that basic immunizations such as polio, tetanus, whooping cough, and measles are helpful. I personally believe the most important factor is that no later than age one all children should receive 1000 units of D 3 daily or 50,000 units once a month-more important than vaccines!
I also think the following vaccines should be given sometime in the first 3 or 4 years of age:
DPT-diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis; measles; mumps; rubella; polio
I am not convinced that most of the others that are pushed should be given. I am equally certain that antidepressants, anti-hypertensives, statin drugs, antihistamines and chemotherapies are not drugs I can recommend! The safer alternative approaches I write about are far superior.
