ENERGY

C. Norman Shealy, M.D., Ph.D.

Perhaps the most common symptom of all is lack of energy. This may be caused by inadequate sleep inadequate exercise, inadequate intake of essential nutrients, excess sugar, excess calories, smoking, excess alcohol, poisons and toxins, most prescription drugs, depression, anxiety, stress. Obviously any deficiency should be addressed. If your regular blood tests-CBC and metabolic panel are normal, you should consider a blood test for B 12(should be in mid to upper range) and homocysteine (anything above 7.5 is dangerous to your health). Assuming all these and the cause have been addressed, you might consider sublingual B12 2000 mcg daily for a few week . If no help then try, one at time:

Vitamin D 3, 50,000 units once a week and K 2, 15 mg daily
NAC 500 mg a.m. and noon
Acetyl -L-carnitine, 500 mg a.m. and noon
Taking a brisk 5 minute walk
Korean Ginseng
Ashwagandha
Gingko biloba
Astragalus
Stinging Nettle
Reishi mushroom
