DOGS, WOLVES AND PSYCHOPATHS

C. Norman Shealy, M.D., Ph.D.

Dogs and humans bond easily, apparently eventually both the dog and its owner friend release oxytocin just through gazing into each other’s eyes reported Dr. Takefumi Kikusui at Azabu University in Japan. But research on wolves found that wolves do not bond and even domesticated do not release oxytocin when loved by a human. Interestingly, a third generation domesticated fox develops this oxytocin bond.

Psychopaths, on the other hand produce an extremely high level of oxytocin. Their self-love is so extreme that they lose the ability to bond or feel love towards anyone except self! Interestingly, just simple crooks, who lack the usual morals, have deficient oxytocin, as do those with chronic depression, anger or any other psychological problem, other than Psychopathy. Fortunately, raising oxytocin with intranasal spray or Air Bliss works well for at least 80% of those with psychological problems other than psychopathic personality? Would Air Bliss or intranasal oxytocin help the simple sociopathic crooks?

Over 35 years ago Dr. Pat Norris demonstrated that prisoners taught biofeedback self-regulation, while in prison, had a phenomenal reduction in criminal recidivism. Prisons have not embraced this simple tool, which could cut the usual extremely high recidivism rate. Air bliss would be far simpler. Of course don’t try it with psychopaths or the wolves of humankind!
