Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease is one of the most common disorders affecting Americans. Indeed, the drugs used to treat GERD are the third leading class of drugs sold. Statins (UGH) , antidepressants (not the greatest of efficacy!), and then Nexium , Zantac , Protonix , Prilosec , Prevacid , AcipHex , Carafate , Pepcid , Tagamet ?and numerous antacidsall in all an approximately $18 Billion business!

Nexium, the little purple pill, gets more advertising dollars than any of the others and yet it is not significantly better than OTC Prilosec!!? Cost difference about 10 fold!? The best results for heartburn with any of them are about 75%.?

Over dosage can cause seizures and other emergencies. Now, to be realistic, true chronic GERD is indeed a serious problem and may lead to esophageal cancer. It should not be ignored. A couple of months ago I learned about a product, MVM , produced by Liquidity International, and heard half a dozen people state that it had corrected their GERD. Liquidity International is the premier aloe product company! MVM is an extract of aloe vera, with concentrated catalase, an important enzyme. I volunteered to test the product in 12 individuals. I asked them to take one capsule with each meal for one week, to continue the MVM and the second week to go to every other day on their anti-GERD drug. The third and subsequent week they were to use only the MVM but could go back to the drug at any time if symptoms recurred.

RESULTS:

•8 individuals have good control of GERD on MVM
•One person was able to cut the drug to every other day but not to stop it
•One person was able to control the GERD for a day by adding another aloe vera Liquidity drink, COMPLETE , but it did not continue to help
The results are almost as good as those with Nexium and its clones BUT much safer. A number of individuals have reported improvement in GERD with LiquiVita ?although I know of no formal studies. Much more work needs to be done in many more people but aloe vera is infinitely safer than any of the GERD drugs! Personally I feel it is worth trying each of these products.
