As with every illness, stress is the basic “cause.” The causes of an overactive immune system or autoimmune illnesses are no different. However, what makes autoimmune illnesses unique are their wide variation and severity. And with many autoimmune diseases there is genetic predisposition.

Here is an alphabetized list of the more common autoimmune diseases. The actual list is about twice this long but these are most common situations in which the immune system attacks the body itself.

With an overactive immune system, virtually every organ or system has the potential for mild to extreme attack by its own immune system.

At the minimum this causes pain. However, more severe cases can cause disability and even death.

Here is how to holistically address autoimmune conditions.

In general, basic enhancement of normal immunity with vitamin D 3, vitamin C, B complex, beta glucans, and astaxanthin can be helpful. In the more severe cases intravenous vitamin C, intravenous ozone and Autogenic Training can be crucial.

(Interestingly, the genetic within-family variation in psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis and lupus erythematosus demonstrate the relation of the rheumatoid diseases. This can appear as a mother with rheumatoid arthritis and children with lupus or psoriasis, etc.)

Of course, as with life and health in general, basic health habits are essential for dealing with what causes an overactive immune system:

  • Body Mass Index of 18 to 24
  • 8 to 10 servings of vegetables and fruits daily
  • No smoking
  • A minimum of 30 minute of physical exercise 5 days a week
  • Sleep 7 or 8 hours every night

Since only 2.5% of Americans have all these commonsense habits, immune disorders, disease in general and early death are rampant!
