What are the 7 chakras?

The 7 chakra energy centers are connected to many major organs and nerve cells in the human body. Below we explain what the 7 chakras in our body are & their relation to Health & Wellness.

The 7 chakras relate to 7 specific places on the human body where energy accumulates. They start from the base of your spinal cord and ascend your body to the crown of your head. Each of the 7 energy centers is of unique importance as we explain each one below.

Chakra balancing refers to aligning the energy between spirit, soul, mind & body to connect to life force energy.

Chakra unblocking is the process of restoring harmonious flow of energy through the 7 chakras or energy centers. This return of balance and flow of energy can result in physical, mental, and emotional improvements.

Let’s dig into what the 7 energy chakras are, where they are located on the body and their relation to health & wellness.

A brief history of the 7 chakras

The word chakra originates from the Sanskrit word cakra, meaning wheel or disk. Chakra symbolizes the flow of energy at specific points in our bodies.

The first known mention of chakras was in the ancient Hindu scriptures, Vedas. Chakras, as they are known and understood today, are thanks to a Yogi named Swami Purnananda. Over five centuries ago, he wrote a book in Sanskrit with a chapter titled Sat-Cakra-Nirupanam, which translated as “description of the six centers.”

In 1919, Sir John Woodroffe, also known by his pen name Arthur Avalon, translated Sat-Cakra-Nirupanam into English. He then released his book, The Serpent Power – Secrets of the Tantric and Shaktic Yoga, with those translations. His book would explain what each of the chakras was and their functionality based on Purnananda’s book.

Books can start a movement, and that’s what happened when Charles W. Leadbeater released his book in 1927 called The Chakras. This book would introduce the western world to the idea of chakras and provide the first visual representation of them.

Nuclear Evolution: Discovery of the Rainbow Body, written by Christopher Hill, would then combine chakras with the colors of the rainbow.

This literary journey is how chakras became what they are today.

What is the location of the 7 chakras?

Understanding and being aware of the location of the 7 chakras present in your body can help to connect mindy, body & spirit for health & wellness. It can assist you to detect deep rooted blocks of the energy centers that can deter physical healing, cause emotional distress and mental blocks.

We have included the original sanskrit name of each of the 7 energy chakras.

the 7 chakras locations on the human body

1. The root chakra

Muladhara, the root chakra, is at the base of the spine and is represented by the color red. It’s your foundation, and it provides you with stability. The root chakra connects the mind, body and spirit with the Earth, giving your “grounding.” Grounding is the practice of being in the present moment and in tune with your own energy field and life force. It is a process to turn inward and knowing that you are enough, being at peace.

Svadhishthana, the sacral chakra, is located right below your belly button and is represented by the color orange. Creative and sexual energy flows from here. The sacral chakra is responsible for expressing emotions and directly related to the lymphatic drainage system.

Manipura, the solar plexus chakra, is at the navel and is represented by the color yellow. Your energy dealing with self is housed here. It’s the energy of self-discovery and confidence in yourself. The solar plexus chakra is also associated with wisdom, confidence and self-discipline. This chakra creates the “gut feeling”, a cue when something is right or wrong for ourselves. Sahasrara, the crown chakra, is at the top of your head. Represented by the color violet, this is the energy of your higher consciousness or your spirit. How does the 7 chakra energy centers relate to health & wellness

As you read about each chakra, there’s a common theme – each chakra aligns with a major organ or has something to do with your psychological makeup.

If you look at each chakra’s location, they are all in areas that are vital to our wellbeing and it’s easy to see how any imbalances in those areas could affect our health.

A healthy spine stabilizes your entire body. Think about how you sit and how the base supports everything going up. From a health perspective, if your body isn’t stable or properly supporting you, it can cause issues and pains throughout the body.

Now, what about the organs right below your navel where the sacral chakra is? Your reproductive organs are here, along with your bladder and kidneys. Many can relate, or know someone, who has had bladder issues or kidney stones. Any issues in the lower region of the body can cause suffering and discomfort.

The solar plexus chakra is right at the belly button, and that’s where you’ll find your digestive organs, pancreas, liver, and gallbladder. Everyone has more than likely experienced stomach pains or cramps related to digestion. Also, the liver is the largest organ and one of the most vital in the body. It breaks down your nutrients. When your liver is out of whack, it trickles down to everything else.

Your heart chakra and the importance of heart health don’t need to be explained. The heart keeps the circulation of blood pumping through the body. Heart attacks and high blood pressure are just two of the many issues that can pop up when the heart isn’t able to perform well.

The throat chakra is another important part of the body. It deals with everything needed to speak, your respiratory system, and all parts of the mouth. No shock that there would be a chakra energy center here. This chakra is especially important to take care of, as we’re still battling a virus that attacks the respiratory system.

The third eye chakra relates to your eyes, ear, brain, pituitary gland, pineal gland, and everything in that region. If any of these organs aren’t working as they should, it can affect your entire perception of the world. Most importantly, your mental health.

Finally, the crown chakra. Although located outside the body, it is linked to yourself as a whole. Knowing who you are and where you are going can bring you joy, or being without direction in life can cause you stress and confusion.

Ways to unblock the 7 chakra energy centers

Now that we have shown the 7 chakras energy centers, you can see how important each one is. Let us show you a couple of our personal favorite ways to unblock chakras and keep your energy centers flowing.

Unblock The 7 Chakras with PEMF Therapy

Our favorite way to begin unblocking the 7 chakras is with PEMF therapy. Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy applies specific frequency to the body to allow your cells to function properly and energy centers to flow.

The Shealy-Sorin PEMF Device has been specifically calibrated to cycle through the frequency of all 7 chakras. Every cell in our body has a negative -70 millivolt charge. When you are out of balance, or any of the 7 chakras are blocked, this energy charge makes our cells hyperactive. Your cells are not functioning properly.

The PEMF Device resets the charge back to proper flow.

What this means for you is that you have the ability to begin resonating back to proper frequency immediately upon applying PEMF therapy.

Here is a quote I have said many times:

“The PEMF Device is my all time favorite invention, surpassing my original creation of the TENs unit! Being able to deliver a healing frequency that resets the energy back to proper in our body is my #1 favorite therapy. That is the Shealy-Sorin PEMF Device!”

Unblock The 7 Chakras with Meditation & Breathing

Another way to unblock the 7 chakra energy centers is with breathing exercises & meditation.

You are a shallow breather. All day long you go through the day, barely aware of your breathing. This is because the body has the innate function of breathing to keep you alive. This shallowing breathing leads to stress & dysfunction. Taking a few minutes per day to focus on your breathing can help align your mind, body & spirit.

Here is a quick breath exercise to try that will take you only a minute or 2 and have you feeling amazing upon completion:

  1. Start by saying in your mind 3 times “My breathing is free and easy.”
  2. Now begin to turn your focus on your breath, just be aware of your breath. Hear it, feel it.
  3. Now draw in breath and expand as far as you can until your belly & chest are full.
  4. Once full, slowly release the breath, until you expel every last bit of the breath.
  5. Repeat this breathing pattern for 5 more breaths.

Meditation is essential to assist in unblocking chakra energy centers. Medication does not need to be long one hour sessions. You can meditate quickly throughout the day by simply turning your focus inward, breathing deeply and giving yourself some positive affirmations. The use of “I Am” statements is one of our favorite ways!

I am strong. I am powerful. I am love.

I am healthy. I am well. I am happy to be here.
