Hypertension is a major reaction to total life stress, so the most important way to control it safely is stress reduction. And knowing how to safely get off blood pressure medication is, for many, closely linked to learning how to effectively reduce stress.

Are your cholesterol and triglycerides normal? Are you taking a statin drug? Is your thyroid normal? Are you taking any other medications? 

All these medications factor into the safety and effectiveness of weaning from blood pressure mediations.

How much coffee are you drinking?

Caffeine raises blood pressure.

How much alcohol are you drinking?

Alcohol is a major carbohydrate contributor which often leads to weight gain which is a contributor to high blood pressure.

Preparing to get off blood pressure medication really comes down to lifestyle modification to eliminate or better deal with stress.

When you work with your holistic physician, they will not start weaning you from your medication until your blood pressure is consistently below 150/90.
