Depression can be both a cause of and a result of cardiovascular (heart) disease. Even mild depression is a common and significant risk factor for developing heart disease. It can also raise the risk of future cardiovascular complications. Research has shown that depression can make it harder to recover from heart disease.
This is no surprise, since depression has been linked to many of the lifestyle factors that contribute to heart disease.
These lifestyle factors include a poor diet, inactivity, drug or alcohol abuse, and social isolation. Some of the most common symptoms of depression, such as low energy, sleep problems, and irritability, are also common in heart disease.
Symptoms of depression include sadness, fatigue, difficulty focusing or concentrating, unhappiness, anger, irritability, frustration, lack of interest or pleasure, too much or too little sleep, lack of angry, anxiety, craving junk and unhealthy foods, as well as loss of pleasure.
All these symptoms may raise cholesterol, cortisone, adrenalin, and blood sugar. In other words, you cannot afford the luxury of depression! It is wallowing in manure. Interestingly the drugs used to treat depression may be worse than the depression itself. And they increase the risk of suicide!
Diet changes that support healing from depression and heart disease.
Nutritionally avoid wheat, rice, Irish potatoes, pop and sugar. Add tryptophan up to 7000 mg daily with 4 Shealy-Sorin Eco Green Essentials and 4 Shealy-Sorin Youth Formula and 15 to 20 mg of lithium orotate. Add palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) 400 mg three times daily.
