ADD, ADHD, & OTHER FAIRY TALES, Part I
C. Norman Shealy, M.D., Ph.D.

There is, of course, no question that some children and adults have less ability to focus than others, are more active than others, and may need a different environment in which to thrive. I know scores of adults who say “I was that way as a child.” Indeed, I have often said that. I had wonderful teachers who assigned me extra work and tasks. The idea that every child who does not sit quietly for 6+ hours a day has a “disease” and needs one or more drugs is one of the current Popular Delusions fed greedily by the PharmacoMafia. In my own experience with many such children and a few adults who still have difficulty with focus of attention, a little lithium orotate and the Shealy RelaxMate II have worked far better and safer. Actually, virtually every person will function better and at the same time protect the brain with a little lithium orotate. It is a safe essential trace mineral, essential for stabilizing serotonin production. Far more tedious, but still effective and safe, without drugs, is EEG biofeedback. It takes weekly sessions for 6 weeks while the lithium orotate and RelaxMate work within a few days.

There are other options, also. 3 STEPS TO CONQUERING ADD-ADHD by Jon Bennett, 6th edition, from the ADD Research Institute, is one worth studying. He recommends:

Avoid the bad. There are clearly some truly bad things:

Stimulant drugs like Ritalin and Adderall and Sarattera

Junk food:

Sugar, pop, candy, caffeine, Monosodium Glutamate (all “fast food” is junk, most canned soups and packaged foods contain MSG)

Inactivity. Significant time watching TV or computer games

Dehydration-much too little water and chlorinated and fluoridated water are toxic, especially to young brains

Supply the essential nutrients needed:

Omega-3

DHA

Magnesium-The lotion is best

Grape seed extract-pycnogenol

B complex

Zinc

Iron

Calcium

5-hydroxy tryptophan. I would add lithium orotate!

Master tips and Techniques? to control ADD-ADHD:

Work with a career counselor expert in ADD-ADHD (avoid those who push drugs!!

Provide lists for EVERYTHING that need accomplishing

Use short time periods to accomplish goals

Set goals that require only a short time

Avoid TV and computer games

Personally, I would add lots of physical exercise. Get them a mini trampoline and set time for some physical activity at least 5 to 10 minutes every non-sleeping hour at home. I would also add vitamin D 3, 50,000 units once a week!
